World Cup and Steam Madness. And Jason is Making it Through!

Jason is Making it Through!

Today is one of the best days of my life. My brother Jason just got his HKDSE results today, and his results are good enough for him to pursue his dream! Hereby I want to share the joy with you and hope you could be happy for him like I do and wish him all the best.

I was gonna post this thing on the Facebook wall, but I changed my mind as I thought there were enough posts like this out there that didn't need me to pile on it. Besides, what concern me more are all those unfortunate people who didn't got what they deserved and absolutely don't want to see these kind of posts anywhere. For them, I wanted to say, though I was an A-Level guy, I still know how you feel cause I'd been there, and what I went through was far worse, but that's another story (let's just say it's been 2 years but I still refused to talk to my Form 6-7 class teacher, as what he did and said back then still disgust me.) What matters is now I'd made it through, and I enjoy what I'm doing now. I would say whatever Jason's got today, he earned them fair and square, but he couldn't have done it without a tidbit of luck. Everyone knows HK exams (HKCEE, HKAL and HKDSE) suck and usually cannot reflect one's true ability, don't take them too seriously. Once again, I'm proud of you, Jason!

World Cup Madness!

6 hours before Jason getting his HKDSE results is the final match in the World Cup 2014. I spent the midnight with Chun Long and Sam in Park Central. But that's not what I wanna talk about, what I wanna talk about is a day before that.

The same three of us spent the entire afternoon playing snooker and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 (with the World Cup patch, the 2014 one sucks!) Crazy! Then Sam and I went to a Chinese restaurant in the mall nearby, Park Central , to have dinner with Mom and Jason, who just came back from playing Mahjong with Mom's friend, Aunt Sandy, and their other friends. After dinner, knowing we had nothing to do until 4am in the morning for the Netherlands-vs-Brazil match,  Mom invited my buddies for Mahjong, that night was just becoming crazier and crazier! So, at 11pm, Patrick and Yoyo, who also had nothing to do, also shown up at my home and joined the Mahjong party. I was the only one who didn't know how to play so I had no idea what they were doing the whole time. All I could do was upgrading the Ubuntu in my laptop to 14.04. In the meantime, Jason took Mom's place and started losing money for her. Mom also started to blame Patrick for buying me that Sonic Screwdriver, which I literally had been bringing it everywhere. Yoyo and Sam also piled on it and said the buzzing sound it made was very annoying. I still insist it is the most powerful scientific equipment in the universe and everyone should give it more respect.

Like a boss!

At around 3:30am, we left home to Park Central to watch the game.

Before the match, Yoyo and I were handed papers to guess the score after halftime and it was said that whoever guessed it right would enter a lucky draw, and 4 of the lucky ones would win a prize! Yoyo wrote 0-3 (Ned-to-Bra) on his paper with my name on it. I did the same but wrote 2-0. And O-M-G! I won! During halftime, the girl on the stage announced Yoyo's name as the first winner and of course, they pushed me to the stage to get the prize!

Yoyo forced me to take this shot.

Since they were prizes, I split the ducky ducks with them. I didn't even care how much they cost, all I started to care about is my new reputation as the Prophet in World Cup, which I lived up to their expectation and had been spot-on in the final match (Germany-vs-Argentina)! Maybe I should start gambling.

Steam Madness

Everyone knows I am an avid gamer. Ever since I started studying Computer Science, I started to grow some sort of conscience and started buying computer games on Steam (the fact Steam is always slashing prices also has something to do with it.) But I was always in control and wouldn't let myself buy too much by banning myself from using my credit card to buy games but using the wallet cards I bought in Sham Sui Po or doing purchases through my friend William. My strategies worked perfectly, until the Steam Summer Sale and I met Max.

Around 2 weeks after I started working in ASM, the fresh graduate from CityU, Max, was hired as an engineer here. We talked a bit but not much until a couple days later when we were having lunch. He asked me if I was a Game-of-Thrones fan as he saw my computer screen kept printing "All Men Must Die!" when I was testing my programs. We started to know more about each other and found out we had a lot in common. We both loved TV shows like Sherlock and GoF, games like Dead Space, Bioshock and Half Life. Then we started to hang around a lot and have fun, we even watched the season finale of GoT together and convinced Angus into watching it. And then the Steam Summer Sale came... Max already known my strategies and became my game dealer by using different ways to talk me into buying games. So after a month, the number of games I had gone from 30 to a solid 58, and there went one fourth of my salary... To get back at what he'd done to me, I also tried to trick him into buying lots of games too. We stopped this madness last Friday after I had made my final purchase (which also made me the final loser) - Mass Effect 3 - before Max was leaving for another job in the government. It's been three days and now I kinda miss calling you "evil~~", Max. I hope we'll see each other again soon.

P.S. I'm still finishing the posts of my trip in Korea 2 months ago, please give me more time.

And last week at my Form 7 Class Union, I couldn't believe 2 of my classmates still kept the Class T-shirt I designed. I'm touched!
